The next example of perception vs. reality also has to
do with a hidden image, one that is seen and yet unseen. In this example,
the image is only seen when it is in motion. When it is stopped, it blends
into its surroundings. Click twice on the "Start / Stop"
words below the image to start this effect, and then once to stop and restart
it.
Start / Stop
When the moving image is stopped, our perception tries
to fool us into believing that the image has disappeared, while in reality it is
just hidden. This is similar to the spiritual nature of a believer.
The believer knows that God and the Holy Spirit are present, but cannot exactly
define the nature of God in material, worldly terms. In the book of John,
Jesus said:
"Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You
should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows
wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from
or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.” -
John 3:6-8
For believers in Jesus Christ, it is
important that we focus our lives on Jesus Christ instead of things of the
world.
"So we fix our eyes not on what is
seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen
is eternal."
- 2 Corinthians 4:18
