We wanted to get a quick letter out to everyone about our Fall Retreat on November 1st – 3rd, 2002. Everything is going great, and our reservations are set at Camp Overlook in Keezletown, VA. Our theme for this retreat will be “Extreme Measures”. Jesus encouraged His listeners to accept His extreme challenge to love the Lord with all their heart, soul, and mind, as well as loving their neighbor as themselves. (Matthew 22:37-39) The main purpose of this letter is to let you know all the details for the trip as we prepare for a great retreat.
We will have a deadline of October 27th to turn in money and forms, and we are looking for a tremendous group this year. Space is limited, so please sign up quickly – the sooner the better. Enclosed are the medical release forms needed by the camp for this retreat. Please return these forms along with the $70. Remember that the $70 includes everything for the trip: lodging for 2 nights, transportation, all meals (except $5 for 1 travel meal), and activities at the camp.
As for any adults, please consider helping with this retreat if you are able to - we know it will be a good opportunity for you and for our students.
Chris Davis will lead our worship this year. He has been a Student Life Camp worship leader for many years. Chris has a real heart for youth and we are excited to have him joining us. Scott Ross will be our speaker and share four powerful messages based on Matthew 22:37-39 and our them “Extreme Measures.” Scott serves on staff with Student Life in Birmingham, AL and is a founding member of the drama team, “All Things 2 All People.”
We feel God is leading this retreat to be a highlight of our student’s year! This is a tremendous way for you to get more involved in the lives of some of our students. We look forward to hearing from you soon!
In Christ,
Rachel Phillips
Minister to Students
