Join us each month from September to May as we explore Virginia's historical sites, concerts and museums, guided tours and great restaurants. People of all ages are welcome to attend any of the events.

Southern “Beans & Cornbread” Pot Luck Luncheon | Friday, February 9 | 12:00-2:00 PM | Old Fellowship Hall | Guest Speaker:  Walter Griggs, Author

Bring your favorite southern dish like “beans and cornbread” for a hearty pot luck luncheon in the Old Fellowship Hall.  After lunch enjoy our guest speaker, Walter Griggs, who will share from his book “Hidden History of Richmond”.  These lesser known tales of personalities who shaped the capitals past will be unearthed.  He will also talk about his book “The Collapse of Richmond’s Church Hill Tunnel”, another one of his incredible books about Richmond’s history.  Mr. Griggs will also have his books available for purchase.  Hope you can join us for this delicious meal and engaging speaker!

National Museum of the Marine Corps @ Quantico | Thurs, Mar 15 | 8:30AM-3:00PM | Cost:  $22 | Limited to 28

Come and explore the Museum of the Marine Corps through exhibitions and collections.  See beautiful galleries that depict specific eras and highlight Marine contributions to American history.  There are over 60,000 uniforms, weapons, vehicles, medals, flags, aircraft, works of art and other artifacts telling the story.  You can also check out the film, “We, The Marines” in the new Medal of Honor Theater, on your own and not included in the cost.  This action-packed, giant screen adventure will let you experience the journey of Marines from boot camp to training, deployment and finally homecoming!  During our visit, we will enjoy a box lunch in the Mess Hall and time to explore the Museum Store.

Discover Historic Occoquan | Tues, Apr 24 | 8:00AM-4:30PM | Cost:  $43

Take a step back in time and enjoy historic Occoquan.  The town was established in the late 1700’s along the banks of the Occoquan River and still maintains the charm of that bygone era.  We will start our day with a narrated cruise aboard the Riverloop Sightseeing Boat, where our captain will share the history, environmental and real estate facts along the way.  We will have lunch right on the river at The Virginia Grill, located in the heart of town at the Occoquan Inn.  After lunch, everyone will have time to explore the lovely downtown area, approximately 5-6 short blocks, with all its many specialty shops.  Be sure to check out the Tourist Center and the Hill House Museum.

Lunch selection includes drink and dessert:

1)  Chicken Salad Sandwich – Served with lettuce, tomato, pickle and potato chips.
2)  The Old Towne – Thinly sliced, lean roast beef topped with smoked Gouda cheese, red onions, lettuce & tomato.  Light horseradish sauce on French bread.  Served with potato chips.
3)  The Grill Burger with Cheese – Seasoned fresh ground beef on a toasted brioche bun.  Served with potato chips.
4)  Taco Salad – Garden greens on a bed of tortilla chips topped with chili and cheddar cheese.  Your choice of dressing.

North Anna Nuclear Power Plant Tour | Lunch at Tavern on the Rail | Fri, May 11 | 8:30AM-2:30PM | Cost:  $23

Ever wondered how a nuclear power station works?  Join the Travelers as we travel to the North Anna Nuclear Power Plant in Louisa on beautiful Lake Anna to find out.  On our guided tour, we will see a presentation on nuclear plant operations, forms of energy, the environment, safety, and waste management.  We will see the lovely Visitor Center with its displays, interactive exhibits, film and brochures.  After our visit, we will head into Mineral to have lunch at Tavern on the Rail, an 1837 Registered Landmark restored into a unique restaurant.

Lunch selection includes fries, dessert and a drink:
1)  Classic Club – Turkey, bacon, ham, cheese, lettuce, tomato & mayonnaise.
2)  Tavern Burger – Burger topped with cheese, lettuce, tomato & mayonnaise on a toasted bun.
3)  Crispy Chicken & Bacon Sandwich – Lightly breaded chicken topped with bacon & provolone cheese on a toasted bun.
4)  Tavern Salad – Mixed greens topped with cranberries, fresh apple slices, feta cheese crumbs, toasted pecans and crispy chicken.
5)  Classic Reuben – Pastrami, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut with Thousand Island dressing grilled on rye bread.
