Prayer Email #11
Sent 10/22/2004
I will praise you, my God and King,
and bless your name forever and ever.
I will bless you every day, and I will praise you forever.
Great is the LORD! He is most worthy of praise!
His greatness is beyond discovery!
I will meditate on your majestic,
glorious splendor and your wonderful miracles.
Your awe-inspiring deeds will be on every tongue;
I will proclaim your greatness.
Everyone will share the story of your wonderful goodness;
they will sing with joy of your righteousness…
Psalm 145:1-3, 5-7
I know, I know,
you guys just heard from me, but God has been doing such “awe-inspiring
deeds” here as of late, I felt it would be doing Him an injustice not to
proclaim His greatness! I know that you have all been praying for the
efforts in Alexandria, because God has been POURING down blessings there in
the areas that Megan and I are working in.
As you know we changed our lessons a bit, and I had you
praying for how that would go. It has been amazing! The lessons are a lot
more interactive now, and the kids are really getting into it. An amazing
blessing from the Lord has also been in two wonderful young ladies, Nosicelo
and Zukeswa. They are friends from here in Grahamstown and have been
accompanying us to Alexandria over the past two weeks. Having them in class
is wonderful, because they jump right in and translate or ask questions and
really contribute to the class.
These ladies have also been a blessing as Megan and I
have gone to do home visits as follow-up to the American team coming to
Alexandria. There have been many homes where NO ONE spoke English and things
would have been very confusing without Nosicelo and Zukeswa there. The home
visits have just been a source of great joy for me. It is so lovely to be
able to go into someone’s home and just have a chat. I have been blessed
with the hospitality of the people we have encountered.
We were able to visit a lot of the youth who had made
decisions during the tent revival. We have made an attempt to gather them up
into a Bible Study meeting on Tuesday afternoon. This past Tuesday we had
about eight guys show up. It was actually amusing because we were waiting
inside the house, thinking no one had come, and so we finally decided to
leave and head back to G-town. When we got outside, these guys were hanging
around, nervous about actually coming inside. So we rounded them up and had
a really great Bible study.
Overall, it has just really been amazing and humbling
to see how much God has been doing!
OK, so another reason I’ve written is to encourage you
all to continue praying for what’s happening here. Let me give you some
specific ways…
- Continue to pray for our lessons. Pray that Megan and I would have
wisdom in how we teach (James 1:5) and have boldness in sharing Jesus
with our students (Ephesians 6:18-19).
- Pray for Nosicelo and Zukeswa.
Pray that these girls will be encouraged in the Lord and seek Him. Pray
for Zukeswa as she looks for a job. Pray for Nosicelo as she has been
sick recently.
-
Pray for those we visited last week. Pray especially for the eight guys
that came to Bible study. Their names are: Luzuko, Khanyisa, Sivuyile,
Luyanda, Khanyiso, Simphiwe, and Misbaya. Pray that they will be
encouraged in the Lord and will continue to seek Him and continue to
come to Bible study. Ask the Lord to bring even more people to Bible
study—we talked to so many who need discipleship. Pray against any
hindrances that may be getting in their way.
-
Finally, pray for strength and endurance for me and Megan, and renewed
Spirits as we allow God to work through us. (Colossians 1:11)
Ok, thank you for letting me tell of His wonderful
goodness. I hope that you join me in praising Him, as well as continuing to
lift up these people and ministries before the Lord!
For God’s glory,
heather :-)
