Children's Ministry at Cool Spring
- The Preschool Ministry: From birth through kindergarten,
children are introduced to the Christian faith through age specific
hand-on activities and learning experiences. This helps to establish a
foundation to be built on in future years.
-
- Preschool Activities are scheduled throughout
the year, often corresponding with adult activities, such as
church wide picnics. Child care / nursery is usually available for
children age 5 and below during seasonal adult activities, such as
Christmas and Easter evening performances.
-
- Vacation Bible School (see below) is held each summer, usually
in June, for children aged 4 and above.
-
- A Baby Dedication Service in the Spring represents a
commitment from the parents of young children to raise them in a
Christian home, helping them to grow toward faith in God.
-
- Children's Ministry: For elementary age children, the church
is of major importance in providing positive opportunities to learn of
Jesus Christ, to study His Word, and to come to a personal knowledge
of His redeeming Love. Through caring Christian teachers our
elementary age children participate in Bible Study, mission and music
groups, Vacation Bible School, fellowships, discipleship groups, and
other activities throughout the year. All of these activities provide
a foundation of Christian beliefs which will last a lifetime.
Regularly scheduled children's activities include:
-
- Child care during the Sunday 8:30 a.m. Worship Service
- Children's Sunday School at 8:30 and 10:00 a.m.
- Children's Church (for kindergarten age and above) at 11:15 a.m. on
Sunday during the 11:15 Worship Service
- Children's music and Choir on Sunday at 5:00 p.m.
- Missions Activities on Wednesdays from 6:15 - 7:30 p.m.
- Sunday School Classes for School age children include:
- First grade children
- Second grade children
- Third grade children
- Fourth grade children
- Fifth grade children
- Sixth grade children
-
- G-Force (God’s Force) provides children opportunities to
build relationships with Christian adults; be involved in fun,
high-energy Bible study experiences; and participate in praise and
worship with other children.
What’s involved in G-Force? As soon as the children enter the room, they
are involved in interactive activities called Ignition. In Velocity,
they move to exciting and fun music to help them learn the main point
and memory verse for the session. They also experience the Bible story
through drama, props, and other creative methods while building
relationships with their captains and friends. In PowerCel, the children
and captains transition into small groups for personal application of
the main point, the Bible story, and the memory verse. Finally, the
children and captains have Re-Entry for an exciting review of what they
have learned through out the session.
G-Force is offered at our 8:30 and 10:00 Bible study hours for 1st - 3rd
graders. At 8:30 all children meet in the New Fellowship Hall. At 10:00,
1st graders meet in room 203, 2nd graders meet in room 200, and 3rd graders meet in the New Fellowship Hall.
AWANA Awana
is a
nondenominational ministry that assists churches in reaching children
and teenagers with the gospel of Jesus Christ and training them to serve
Him. The heartbeat of Awana is reaching children around the world with
the good news that Jesus Christ loves them and can save them from sin.
Each week, more than one million boys and girls in over 110 countries
attend Awana clubs where they play games, memorize Bible verses and
listen to Bible stories. From preschool to high school, children and
youth have fun while being taught the Word of God.

In Handbook Time, children work through age-appropriate handbooks
memorizing Bible verses and doing activities ranging from patriotism to
community service. They earn awards based on their work.
The final segment, Council Time, consists of singing, puppets, Bible
stories and lessons based on Christian principles.
Besides weekly meetings, other Awana activities occur throughout the
year except for a break during summer months.

Vacation Bible School is a week long event usually in June of the year,
one or two weeks after school lets out for the Summer. This extremely
popular week exposes children to the Christian faith through music,
crafts, games, and fun. There is a specific theme each year, and the
children's rooms are decorated to the max. Each year three to four hundred
children attend, and generally no one is turned away. Children age 4
to those entering the 6th grade participate from 8:30 to noon for 5 days.
The families are invited to a performance held on the final Friday
evening.

- Take the Plunge!

Vacation Bible School
June 25th – 29th
8:30 am - noon
"Take the Plunge!"
God blessed our time together as children plunged into
the Word and learned how Jesus used the very common
element of water to teach some uncommon lessons.
Nearly 500 children attended VBS this year! 320 on-site
volunteers gave of their time & talent and that doesn't
include the countless number of people who prayed for
VBS, baked, etc..
Hundreds of flip-flops and children's underwear were
donated for impoverished communities in the Dominican
Republic, and $1075.31 was raised to help complete a
modest church building in Guayacanal, Dominican
Republic. Our youth prayer-walked and led Bible Clubs
there last year, and will return again this year. They
will hand deliver items collected when they arrive in
the Dominican Republic on June 30th for their summer
mission trip. Thank you Cool Spring family for allowing
God to use you in such a mighty way!
"The water that I give shall spring up to everlasting
life.” John 4:14

- Trading Places - What an awesome week! God blessed our time
together as children learned from Ruth how to be loyal; from David that
what’s important to God is the inside; from Esther that God has a plan
for their lives; from the disciples that faith allows them to be ready
for all things in life; and from Paul that Jesus changes hearts & lives.
460 children attended, and 17 children made professions of faith in
Jesus Christ. More than 300 volunteers, from 6th grade children to
adults, gave of their time & talents. Thank you to all who allowed God
to use them in such a mighty way!
Over $1000 was raised to build build basketball courts in the Dominican
Republic, and many items were collects for distribution in the Dominican
Republic during the Student Ministry Mission trip there starting 7/5/06.

- VBS was a Great Success this year with around 460 children participating
and 250 volunteers (average of 222 volunteers per day). Funds were
raised to send 21 children to Mountain Top Children's Camp in Wyoming, and
items were collected for the Church Hill Backyard Bible Club.
Vacation Bible School 2003 - "Son Harvest County Fair" - was held from
June 23-27, and Cool Spring was blessed with over 430 children in
attendance. Over 250 adult and youth volunteers were actively
involved during the week. The children participated in Bible study
based on Galatians 5:22-23, the fruit of the Spirit. They also
enjoyed recreational activities, crafts, singing praises to God, and
skits. The Cool Spring County Fair was held after the Friday evening
closing ceremonies. The monetary offering during the week was used
to support missionaries ministering to the Lozi people in Africa, and
small toys and other items were collected for the Youth to take to Mexico
on their Mission Trip to Reynosa. Go to Vacation Bible School 2003 - "Son
Harvest County Fair" for photos and more information.
Vacation Bible School 2002 - Walkin' by Faith and not by Sight - was a
great success. Held from June 24-28, God blessed us with 410 children
and taught us lessons in faith along the way. More than 170 youth and
adults volunteered during the week to ensure children were cared for and
ministered to. Toys and school supplies were collected for Samaritan’s
Purse and will be sent in shoeboxes in the fall to destinations around the
world. The total offering collected for the week will be given to Hanover
Habitat for Humanity. Children learned through recreation, crafts,
refreshments, and music that pointed the way to an "Extreme Adventure
with Jesus" that makes a difference in their daily lives. Go to
