Annie Armstrong Easter Offering
North American Missions Emphasis

"In word and deed one life, one soul at a time."

North American Missions Emphasis
Annie Armstrong Easter Offering Goal: $8,500

Annie Armstrong was a bold missions advocate who engaged Southern Baptists to wholeheartedly support the work of missions through praying for missionaries, giving to mission causes and urging believers to share the Gospel. Our North American Missionaries continue to make an eternal impact around the country. Please pray for them as they serve in roles such as college ministry, church planting and even as Appalachian Trail Servants.

MISSIONS  PROJECTS
  • Haiti Response - How You Can Help

Cool Spring is part of a long-term commitment to assist with the crisis in Haiti. You can contribute funds by using the green envelopes found in your monthly envelope packets or at all church entrances. Please indicate "Haiti" on the front of the envelope. All funds will be forwarded to the Baptist Relief Efforts. The Cool Spring Missions Team will make you aware of other opportunities as they become available.

    Give . . . Go . . . Gather

    Give:
    30 Hour Famine
Our students collected $18,750 during the 30 Hours of Famine. We collected more than $4,000 in our green mission envelopes, received 60 blankets and two boxes of medications and filled 50 large buckets with dried food! Thank you Cool Spring family for this loving expression of compassion for the people of Haiti!

    Donate to Baptist Relief Efforts
You can contribute funds by using the green envelopes found in your monthly envelope packets or at all church entrances. Please indicate "Haiti" on the front of the envelope. Over $70,000 has been contributed by Virginia Baptist congregations already!

    Take Time to Pray!
Be in prayer for the Haitian residents that they would be healed physically and spiritually. Also, for the volunteers that are there now including our Wyatt House resident currently serving on a medical team.

    Go:
Prepare to be a volunteer as teams are created to go to Haiti. Be sure to acquire or update your passport. There will be a need for medical, disaster relief, water purification and rebuilding teams.

      November 2, 2009 update:

      Friends and Family,
What a blessing it was to take 5 of our friends with disabilities to a Young Life fall weekend in Rockbridge, Virginia. Four had been to camp this past summer, but Sarah, who is completely blind, came for the first time and had a blast! It was awesome for all of us to see her clapping during club (check out the short video at the bottom to see this!), smiling the entire weekend, and riding a fifty foot swing called the SCREAMER! She repeatedly heard about Jesus and how He loves her more than she can ever know.

My time in Salem has also provided me with the opportunity to build relationships with freshman at Roanoke College. The Lord has been blessing these relationships during dorm visits, while watching football games, and also during a Bible study that I lead on Wednesday nights. We are currently studying through the book of John, and thought provoking discussions have taken place. I am really excited to see how these guys are maturing and are realizing that Jesus Christ is the key to living life to the full.

I hope and pray that you realize how important you are in this ministry. Not only are you blessing me, but you are also playing a part in blessing high school kids with disabilities, families of kids with disabilities, mainstream high school kids, college students, and many more people in the area. I appreciate you more than you know!

      Prayer requests:

      - Community/fellowship with guys my age in the Salem area
      - More contacts with kids with disabilities and also with parents and families
      - Leaders for Capernaum in the Salem area

      Love and wheelchairs,
      Stafford

  • Mission Team News - December 2009

In the past few weeks our Cool Spring family has:
     - Packed 459 shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child
     - Given generously to the Hanover Juvenile Corrections Center
     - Taken turkey & fixings to many of our church shut-ins
     - Served turkey dinner to 30 Arabic guests predominantly from Essex Village apartments; who then enjoyed the Adult Christmas Production

Many of our adult Sunday School classes have taken on valuable projects in the community, reaching out in Jesus' name. The Missions Team would like to extend a heartfelt "thank you."
