Ministry Missions - Mission Waves
The Student Ministry at Cool Spring is enthusiastically involved in Local
Missions Projects, Regional Missions Projects, and International Missions
Projects. The Student Ministry is comprised of Middle School, High School,
and College Students.
Below are listed
some of the Mission Actions Projects that the Student Ministry at Cool Spring
has participated in. More information about the Student Ministry can
be found at the Student Ministry Web Pages, The
Stand. There are also many opportunities for volunteering in the
Student Ministry, which can be found on the
Student Ministry Volunteer
Opportunity Pages.
- Local Community and Urban Missions -
- Richmond Homeless Ministry - Since
2003, the Middle School Youth have distributed donated backpacks, coats,
hats, gloves, socks, personal grooming items, food items, and copies of
the New Testament to homeless individuals living in the streets of
Richmond in the month of December. The Students use the
opportunity to minister to the homeless as well. Hundreds of
backpacks have been distributed.
- Participation in C.A.R.I.T.A.S., Upward Sports, and Vacation
Bible School - The youth of the Student Ministry actively
participate in C.A.R.I.T.A.S., which has been at Cool Spring since 2002.
This includes participation in virtually all aspects of the
C.A.R.I.T.A.S. ministry. The Youth
participate in Upward Sports,
taking active roles such as refereeing, assistant coaching, working
concessions, and more. The Youth are also actively involved in
ministering to children during the annual
Vacation Bible School at
Cool Spring, including drama, recreation, crafts, and Bible Study during
the week.
- Rake Attack Ministry - Students volunteer their time to rake leaves and
perform yard work for senior citizens and single mothers.
Regional Missions - Washington D.C. Homeless
Ministry - The High School Students at Cool Spring have annually traveled to
Washington D.C. in the month of December to distribute hundreds of
donated backpacks, clothing items, food items, and copies of the New
Testament to homeless individuals living on the streets. This is
an excellent opportunity for the Youth to minister to these individuals.
In 2007, 370 backpacks were distributed in D.C. and downtown Richmond!
International Missions -
The Student Ministry has participated in numerous international mission
trips over the past several years. This is often a life-changing
experience for both the students and adults involved in these trips.
