The purpose of the Member Development Ministry is to build the true
believers foundation of faith. In order to accomplish this task, we
follow the great commission given by Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.
And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying , “All authority has been
given to Me in heaven and on earth . 19 “Go therefore and make disciples
of all the nations , baptizing them in the name of the Father and the
Son and the Holy Spirit , 20 teaching them to observe all that I
commanded you; and lo , I am with you always , even to the end of the
age .”
Matthew 28:18-20 (NASB95) The very essence of the Great Commission is
as follows:
- As a disciple, a believer, one is to deny himself and make Christ master
of his/her life and then make other disciples (followers of Christ).
- “Go” means to pursue the journey of which one has entered. This is the
life one lives whether he leaves his neighborhood or travels the world.
- “Baptizing them” is the life long teaching (immersion) from one disciple
to another that produces a permanent, real life change, a union and
identification with Christ.
- “Teaching them to observe all that I commanded you” As a disciple,
Christ has entrusted us to teach not only His word but to teach
obedience. A true believer in Christ must learn to attend carefully to
all that the Lord has commanded.
