Cool Spring Travelers

Join us each month from September to May as we explore Virginia's historical sites, concerts and museums, guided tours and great restaurants. People of all ages are welcome to attend any of the events.

Tour Belle Grove Plantation & Port Royal Trading Post | Lunch at Randolph’s on the River Thur, May 9 | 9:30 AM – 3:30 PM | Cost: $40 | Limited to: 29


Travel north with us to the quaint town of Port Royal on the Rappahannock River. We will stop at Port Royal Trading Post & Antiques to browse and shop. Lunch will be at Randolph’s on the River where the slogan is “Seafood with an Attitude.”


After lunch, we will visit Belle Grove Plantation the birthplace of James Madison and the childhood home of his mother Eleanor “Nelly” Conway Madison. We will hear about the history of this lovely home built in 1670 and see rooms filled with antiques that reflect its southern charm. There will be time to take in the lovely grounds backing up to the Rappahannock River before heading home.
