Trees reveal their age
and growth by “circular rings” – each circle
marking its age and showing its growth. At Cool Spring our progress and
growth are marked by our added facilities and numbers of persons
becoming a part of our church family. New facilities were added in the
1950’s, 1960’s, 1970’s, 1995 and in 2000 – all coming at defining
moments in our church’s life.
Each of those defining moments changed the course of
our future in a
very positive way. Responding in faith to those God-given opportunities
has allowed us to be an ever-increasing influence in changing lives in
our community and around the world forever. Today, as a church family,
we face another very big defining moment. So much depends upon our
response.
“Growing Together Building in Faith” lays out the
challenge before us.
It is a call to connect our heart with God’s and our lives to our
mission of
reaching and growing up our worlds, motivated by our love for God and
others. It will also serve as a “bridge” to more and more people waiting
and wanting to become fully committed followers of Jesus Christ.
It is obviously a task much larger than we can
accomplish individually or even together. Therefore it demands that we
move beyond sight to faith. “Growth ring challenges” orchestrated by God
always require faith and partnership with God and each other.
Our challenge is - To follow in the steps of those who
have gone before us and to leave a legacy of faith and opportunity to
our children, grandchildren, neighbors and community, as we serve the
purposes of God in our lifetime.
I count it a genuine joy to serve as your pastor and to
join you in this exciting journey of faith in this God-appointed
opportunity of adding another “growth ring!”
