Cool Spring Travelers Fort Lee Tour
U.S. Army Quartermaster Museum and U.S. Army
Women's Museum
Friday, May 21 - 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM
The Cool Spring Travelers visited the U.S. Army Quartermaster Museum
at Fort Lee. Since 1775, Quartermasters have provided logistical
support to the Army. Their stories are told in eleven exhibit
galleries that also contain such important artifacts as the Nation's
first 50 star flag, General George Patton's World War II jeep,
General Eisenhower's field quarters, and General Grant's saddle.
The Amphibious vehicles shown here were used to go from the ships to
the beaches. (Like those used on D-Day to bring troops ashore
and supplies ashore). One picture is of the kitchen area and
the examples of the food services over the years.
After a box lunch in the picnic area, we proceeded to the U.S. Army
Women's Museum where stories of women's contributions to the Army
are told through exhibits from Bunker Hill to a bunker in Iraq.
