"ONE"
Luke
15 and Mark 14
Think about the
significance of "one."
In a variety of
situations the word one
and term one can make a
difference. Just to name
a few:
· one vote in a
political campaign
· one yard in the
2000 Super Bowl
saved the Rams
· one tenth of a
second in skiing won
a gold medal
· one person -
Billy Graham, MLK
Jr., Adolph Hitler
· one moment in
our lifetime
The Bible speaks of
the word "one." In
Luke 15 alone we
find the Shepherd
has the ninety-nine,
but seeks for the
one that is missing.
How easy could it
have been to say;
"do not worry about
the one." We also
find the lady
tearing the house
upside down to find
just one coin. And
finally the Father
finds the one son.
It is important for
us to grasp the
lesson being taught.
With all the
emphasis businesses
and churches place
on numbers, Jesus is
concerned about the
"one." For inside
the mass numbers is
really just a bunch
of ones.
The number one is
not only about
people, but it is
also about a moment
in time - your life.
One moment can be
the greatest or
disastrous. There is
Paul on the road to
Damascus when his
life is changed in
order to be used as
one of the greatest
missionaries of all
time. And of course
there is David, a
man after God's
heart, but making
one decision to feed
his flesh cost him.
And finally the
women in Mark 14 who
had one moment and
made the best of it
by anointing Jesus
with oil just before
His burial.
One is significant.
As you go about your
daily task and life,
remember to take
advantage of the one
moment you are given
and invest in the
life of one person
daily. The scripture
says in
Luke 15:10, "I tell
you in the same way,
there is joy in the
presence of God's
angels over one
sinner who repents."
