EQUIPPED
FOR
SUCCESS
"And God said,
'I will be with you. And this will be the sign
to you that it is I who have sent you: When you
have brought the people out of Egypt, you will
worship God on this mountain.'" Exodus 3:12
Recruiting at the collegiate level is not an
exact science. As coaches travel around the
country looking for athletes to fill their
rosters, they look for players who are not only
talented, but who are willing to dedicate and
commit themselves to being the best they can
possibly be. Likewise, as coaches, we are
committing to players to help them become the
best they can be. We are promising to equip them
for success.
This was the case when God selected Moses to
lead Hebrew slaves out of Egypt. God was looking
for a man who would be committed. When God
extended Moses the "scholarship offer," Moses
didn't think he was good enough to play for God.
Upon hearing this, God assured Moses that He
would be with him (Ex. 3:12). God was, in a way,
saying to Moses, "If you come play for Me, I'll
take care of you. I'll equip you to be the best
leader you can be if you do the things I tell
you."
As Christians, we need to take comfort in
knowing that when we accept God's call and
follow His leadership, He will make us the best
we can be. And because God has promised us He
will be with us, we should serve confidently and
accept the responsibility He has given us with
commitment and dedication as we seek to glorify
Him.
A few questions to ask yourself:
1. How did you respond the last time you were
called to serve?
2. Do you display the level of commitment God
is asking of you?
3. Coaches / Ministry leaders: Are you
equipping your players as God has equipped you?
4. Athletes: Are you helping your teammates
with what God has given you?
Playing for Him,
Greg English
