In Plain EnglishTHE TEAM AND THE BODY

For as the body is one and has many parts, and all the parts of that body, though many, are one body - so also is Christ.     1 Corinthians 12:12

In the recent Olympics many were amazed as they sat and watched Michael Phelps chase history for eight gold medals. From the first to the last race, our eyes and passion for victory were mesmerized. But there was something different about the last race. The pressure for him to win his eighth gold medal was being placed on those who would swim within their strengths either before or after him - it was a team event. Phelps had proven his skills; and now the world was watching his team.

Teamwork is an important part of the church body. The scripture reveals to us that "though there are many parts, we are one body." As a follower of Christ, you have been uniquely gifted and called to serve the Lord. Yes there are many members within our fellowship, but God has given you the mandate to build up and use your talents for His glory. One of the greatest expressions of worship is service. God has set apart the local church to be His vehicle for which the world could hear and see the message of Christ. This task is not left to just one person. If our overall goal is to impact our community, nation, and world for Christ, then it takes us all - one unified team strengthening each other for the ultimate prize!

Over the next few weeks, ask God to reveal to you your position on the team. Where has He gifted you and how could you serve in that passion? Opportunities are needed now at the Rec Desk and the Gym area.

I have coined a phrase that I try to keep in perspective:

Thrive on 3 - Be in corporate worship, Commit to a small group Bible study, and Serve in one ministry of your passion!
