General Announcements

A Word From Brad

Children's Ministry Sunday is this week and the children of Cool Spring will take a role in worship leadership. You'll see them ushering, singing, praying and reading during the services. You'll hear from our Children's Associate, Shane Standlick, about the Children's Ministry at Cool Spring. I'll wrap up the morning with a short challenge for parents and grandparents from Deuteronomy 6. It's going to be a fun weekend.

We are attempting to raise approximately $24,500 over the next several weeks for specific technology and visual updates at Cool Spring. With the launch of a new venue in September, we need to purchase new equipment such as a camera, projector, screen, cabling, computer and software. The new service (our Growth WIG for 2013) will feature live music and video teaching. Additionally, we are trying to upgrade the visual component of our worship experience at both 8:30 and 10:00 with the installation of a 24-foot screen serving as the background for the platform. The visual upgrade will enhance our ability to teach, create and lead on Sundays. Both projects are in consultation with a media design company and the total cost is $36,000. To date, $11,500 has been given toward the projects, leaving a balance of $24,500 - our target for our fundraising effort. Would you consider helping us raise the necessary funds by Sunday, June 23? Please note this project is supported over and above our normal giving to the general budget at Cool Spring. I want to thank you ahead of time for your generous participation.

Stop by Connections Coffee this Sunday. Follow the signage in the foyer to the Mission Café. The Middle and High School Mission teams will have a bake sale this Sunday from 8:00 am until 12:00 noon. All proceeds will go directly to the cost the summer mission trips. Additionally, all Connections Coffee net proceeds go directly to Student summer missions. When you grab your coffee and baked goods, pull up a chair at one of the booths or tables and start a conversation.

How's the Bible reading going? Keep reading!

We're in the midst of taking pictures for a new member directory at Cool Spring. Have you made your photography setting appointment yet? While there are still great appointment times available, time is running out for you and your family to be included in this edition. Making an appointment is easy. Just click here to make an appointment or follow the link below in the newsletter.

Grace,

Brad

Keep up with the Reading the Bible plan!

If you bring a donation for the food pantry when you arrive for your appointment, you will receive a "Feed the Need" coupon for $5 off portrait purchases. All church and Sunday School members will receive a free 8 X 10 copy of their directory photo. For assistance in scheduling an appointment, call Candace at 746-8970 Ext 3. From May 21 - May 28, please call Cindy Paxton at 928-7778. The remaining dates are as follows:

Wednesday, June 5 to Saturday, June 8

Summer Teaching Series

Like Jesus
"A Study through the Gospel of Mark"

Stop By Connections Coffee!

Connections Coffee is located in the Mission Café. Open 8 am - 12 noon on Sundays.

A Connections Barista is happy to make that perfect latte, cappuccino, mocha, tea, macchiato or hot chocolate. We accept cash and major cards. There's plenty of room behind the counter for additional baristas. If interested, please contact Candace at cnahodil@coolspring.org or 746-8970.

Cookout & Bake Sale Sunday Morning!

The Middle & High School Summer Mission Teams are having a cookout & bake sale this Sunday in the Mission Cafe. Hot dog lunches & homemade baked goods will be available for purchase. All proceeds will assist with the cost of their trips.

Technology & Visual Updates Fundraiser Goal: $24,500

By June 23:

1. To purchase new equipment such as a camera, projector, screen, cabling, computer and software for our new venue beginning in September.

2. To upgrade the visual component of our worship experience at both 8:30 and 10:00 with the installation of a 24-foot screen serving as the background for the platform

The total cost of both projects is $36,000. To date, $11,500 has been given toward the projects, leaving a balance of $24,500.

***Please note this project is supported over and above our normal giving to the general budget at Cool Spring. I want to thank you ahead of time for your generous participation.

Discipleship Classes

Men's Study
April 10 - May 22
Wednesdays at 6:15 pm

"If you Want to Walk on Water, You Have to Get out of the Boat" by John Ortberg will be led by Greg Phillips. Far too many of us have put our faith in a casual Christianity that never compels us to leave our comfort zones. But, deep within our hearts we know that Christ has not called us to comfort, but to an exciting, sacrificial and overwhelmingly fulfilling faith. This study teaches us how to step out of the "boat" of casual Christianity, so that we can faithfully follow the Lord who is calling us out onto the risky, exciting waters of the high seas.

Iron Sharpens Iron

The Outdoor Ministry is inviting all men to participate in As Iron Sharpens Iron, a 10-week mentoring program. This study will:

• help identify the kind of mentor you need
• maximize your mentoring relationship
• model your relationship after biblical examples
• grow through the shared wisdom of another believer
• influence others as you replicate the mentoring process through your gifts and passions

Whether you are looking for a mentor or would like to mentor someone else, As Iron Sharpens Iron provides specific, biblical steps to begin the relationship and make the most of it. Classes begin February 27 & 28 and will be offered twice a week. Tod Daneker will lead the class on Wednesdays from 6:15-7:45 pm and Greg Edmonds will lead on Thursdays from 7:00-8:30 pm.

Open Bible Study
Wednesdays at 6:00 pm
Led by Bill Shaw

Apples of Gold

Apples of Gold is an eight-week mentoring class that provides a way "for older women to nurture younger women in the Word of God and the Bible and to encourage them to obey that Word." Seasoned women of God, together with younger women, seek the Lord's direction in learning and applying the principles taught in Titus 2:3-5. In addition, the group is instructed in a variety of cooking and hospitality skills, culminating each week in a shared meal. Would you enjoy learning from older women of faith how to better love your family, practice hospitality, learn some new cooking tips and create a home that reflects your love for God? The first class will begin on Tuesday, January 31 from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. Please call Marsha Dodd at 779-0659 if you are interested in this class. Enrollment is limited.

Alvin Peyton, on behalf of the Deacon Group, is coordinating the establishment of two new ministries:  The Small Jobs Ministry Team and The Transportation Ministry Team.  Do you realize there are windows and senior adults who have to cancel doctor appointments simply because they do not have a ride?  "Transportation Ministry" to the rescue!

Small Jobs Ministry Team
Seniors are walking into dark rooms simply because they need a new light switch or they can't change burned out light bulbs.  "Small Jobs Ministry" to the rescue!  Please note the title "SMALL" jobs.  Our mission is not home renovation and roof replacement.  We're talking about a light bulb, light switch, dripping faucet, stuck toilet flapper, etc.  If you would like to serve on this team, please contact Alvin, and he will take it from there.

Transportation Team
As part of our role as servants to church members, the Deacons have established a Transportation Team to assist older members of the congregation in getting to doctor appointments, the grocery store or any other needed trips. If you need transportation, please contact Bill Anderson at 746-9649 and he will see to it that your needs are met.
